Born in Jersey City, NJ, lived in Medellin, Colombia, moved to Orlando, FL and studied Game Design before switching to Web Design & Development at Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL.
I started as a 14-year-old web designer in the Xanga era, before Myspace. My passion for art fueled my creativity and technical skills. I taught myself HTML, CSS, JavaScript and how to use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to build a layout and graphic resource website, which got featured on createblog.com (IYKYK). But without formal education, landing a real paid opportunity that young was tough.
"No job too big, no pup too small". Hungry to learn and grow, I took any work I could throughout my journey - hot dog stand, movie theater, retail, telecommunications, tech support, business analyst, you name it. Through it all, there were always two end goals for customers or users I interacted with: solving their problem or fulfilling a need. My whole journey has been built on empathy and servicing others in a multitude of ways; it's what I enjoy and where I thrive.
For the past few years, I've been able to do that by working within product development teams and being able to blend in my creative side. Now I get to build products or features that help businesses and users. My background spans engineering, product development, customer support, UX research, and data analytics. I break down complex problems into simple parts. This skill, plus my mix of creative and business thinking, helps me design practical solutions.
When I am not working, I like to build apps as a hobby, keeping my problem-solving skills sharp. My competitive gaming background adds grit and strategic thinking to my work.
Fun fact, I use to stream Counterstrike and Call of Duty on Twitch. I still play these games competitively and more - let's game together!
Driven by Curiosity…
I am always learning, whether it be by listening to podcasts, following tutorials, taking micro-courses, or simply reading. But I don't just listen or read content, I am always finding a way to put these ideas or principles in practice in real-life projects. This has taught me that not everything you learn or read is the right answer for your problem. I always stay flexible and open-minded.
Here are just a few books I enjoy and try to apply to my everyday thinking…
