Timeline

2 weeks

In 2021, I attended General Assembly's UX Immersive Bootcamp. One of our cohorts first project was focused on identifying problems and brainstorming through solutions. We partnered up and had an open-ended conversation to naturally discover insights and identify an opportunity for a new product.

This project was put on a 2-week sprint with a goal of defining an MVP product along with several deliverables such as research findings, affinity mapping board, low and high fidelity wireframes, and prototype. We then were required to summarize everything into a presentation deck proposing our final solutions to project stakeholders.

Problem

Problem

Online shoppers grapple with product discrepancies and cumbersome return procedures, emphasizing the need for a streamlined, frictionless return solution.

Brainstorming solutions

Brainstorming solutions

To brainstorm solutions, I created an affinity map to identify themes and opportunities using quotes directly from my user interview. Once insights were mapped out and bucketed into themes, I created a section and wrote out 'How might we solve [theme]'…, this helped maintain focus on how I might solve one particular problem. Laying out multiple potential solutions for each theme.

After laying out all ideas, the next thing to do was prioritize. I originally prioritized based on impact vs effort but have since refined the work to align to my future vision so the work is not as feasible as it was originally presented.

Who would my users be?

Who would my users be?

Truthfully, I had created a persona. The typical college student, busy mom, dad, or working professional, with a set of traits, goals, pain points etc. While they are helpful when thinking about who may be your targeted users. It's not necessarily who may end up using your product. To do this more effectively, I need a real working product with active users.

Competitive landscape

Competitive landscape

After brainstorming, prioritizing, and picking a final solution. The next step was to understand the competitive landscape, asking myself questions such as "Are there products out there already solving this problem?", 'What do they offer?", "How can my product be different from them?", "Why would people want to use my product over others?".

Submitted Wireframe

To meet the 2 week sprint deadline with all deliverables (user research synthesis and analysis, market research, competitive analysis, and a wireframe proposing the final solution.

Final Mockup

After several rounds of iterations incorporating a more modern design, I finalized the MVP.
